Seminal rock and roll moment for your humble narrator. Bauhaus' immaculate remake of T-Rex Telegram Sam. Their Ziggy Stardust also held with my insistence that if you are to cover a classic song, you must improve on it - otherwise, leave it alone. Then there was Lagartija Nick, which only cemented my ardor for them. Me in high school in the early eighties, craving something that went up to 11, this floated my bobber and made me swear off pop radio and MTV forever. Pa-tooey. Hard, driving nasty rock with a brain, Peter Murphy's commanding sinister baritone at the helm. Yee haw!

Yee haw! indeed Madam, definately better than the Marc Bolan version.
There have been some good covers of late, take, 'Tainted Love' by that nice Mr Manson.

Yeah, this one kicks ass! I like that tainted love, and Type O Negative's "Summer Breeze" from about 12 years ago is amazing, too.

The best covers completely reinvent the song. Owen Pallet (Final Fantasy) covering Bloc Party's Luno is crazy-good.

strange...the DH and I were just listening to Sirius (first wave channel) and heard some blurb about Bauhaus getting back together....do love Peter Murphy's voice also

I tried to find those to hear online, barabara, but was unsuccessful. I did find Bloc Party's Luno on YouTube, but none of the rest. Harumph! You are a true audiophile, I think! You make me look so small change! :o)

schnoobie - yeah! Peter Murphy's baritone is sooooo hot. I prefer deeper voices, and his is marvelous, used to delightful effect. He sounds like someone who would tie you to the railroad tracks. Yummy.

You know what, Phlegmfatale, I am an idiot. It was actually Bloc Party's This Modern Love that he covered and I think it was pirated because it was live. So I would have no idea how to find it because my offspring's friends find all this stuff.
But Luno was covered really well by Death From Above 1979 (with no fake British accents or anything)

It's good to have in-the-know folk in one's circle. I'll keep looking for that. Thanks!
