You know, I realize I post a lot of videos here. Many of them are just idle fluff and stuff that amuses me. This, however, is something on an entirely different order.

If you ever watch one video to completion on my blog, please, I beg you, let it be this one. Dare to listen to what the interviewee is saying. Have the courage to see how what he said 23 years ago applies in some very real ways today.

Thanks breda.

This vid is profoundly depressing, as far as messages go.

On the one hand, I can see the right-wing fringe using this video to justify their screams of "Socialism!" in the context of the current economic crisis. OTOH (and this is where I'm coming from), others will see the "destabilization" has already come to pass and has been wildly successful (?)... in the form of The Academy, which continues to subvert young minds given into its care... at ALL levels, from grade school to graduate school.

But. The Good Fight continues. Thanks for this, Phlegmmy.

They got to my parents already, part of the Academy PhDs and Masters Graduates and quite ostensibly not aggro Leftists - but they don't see themselves for what they are, they cannot see themselves for what they have done.
Their self-reflection has another mirror slipped between Reality and Action that filters and reflects only the purity of their Intentions - which is sorta what he's talking about.
Action's Effects detached from Intention - with Intent proceeding along another wavelength, a path reflected in a purifying mirror, cleansed of Wrong Effects.

buck - depressing, yes, but as you say, the Good Fight continues, and remains worth fighting.

dirtcrashr - How did you turn out so clear-thinking? I doubt it could be chalked up to rebelliousness.

I think things are happening exactly the way he says. What I can't believe is that we haven't completely succumbed already.

Starting at the beginning is a daunting task, but it must be done.

The first question is "What do you see as the role of government?"

One thing that struck a particular chord with me was towards the end when he was talking about people like Mondale (i.e. Democrats) who would go make nice with assassins...

"He will create false illusions that the situation is under control... situation is not under control...situation is disgustingly out of control..."

This reminds me of Clinton going to North Korea. I was arguing with someone about that recently. Clinton and Madeline Albright danced around like monkeys in front of the North Koreans and signed peace treaties and declared the situation under control. Not so.

I'm not depressed. I will keep on telling the truth. But sometimes we have to learn the hard way.

I believe I was innately suspicious and began trying to put two-and-two together a long time ago, and it took even longer to finally get there. Part of what maybe helped was being sometimes overseas and not subjected to the "fish-school effect" where water itself is an undefinable element.

zelda - Never give up.

dirtcrashr - lucky you, capable of independent thought. There may yet be hope.
