Exotica Thursday - Whistling, the Moonlight, and Ukes!

I can feel you need a pick-me-up.

Today we have Gus & FinN (gugug) doing their marvelous...

hmm... it was all right here when I composted this post. Hmm. Let's try again, shall we?

Gugug serve up a heaping helping of lounge exotica in ways Dick Dale scarce dreamt. Yum!

I find it incredibly reassuring that someone else remembers Dick Dale... and reverently, too.

This DID make me smile.

I heard an interview with Dick Dale on NPR a few years back in which he discussed the origins of this.

You post the most interesting stuff!

1964: Warren HS Downey, CA, cafeteria had a jukebox. Dick Dale had hit surfer tune "Let's Go Trippin'". Flip side was "Miserlou." If I was first to the jukebox, "Miserlou" filled the room; Comments were mostly "What the hell is that; it's great."

If I didn't get there first some fool would play "I Wanna Hold Your Hand!" ugh.

Thanks for trippin' my memory.
