This bug had to die. Shot with a .22 at 7 yards with a Ruger Mark II or a Browning Buckmark - can't remember which. Or maybe it was both?

Sunday afternoon I had some shooty goodness with Holly and a fabulous shooting instructor, who gave me a lesson. It's really great to get instruction from a variety of teachers because it seems like I hear something completely new every time. After a bit, I said I needed to rest and I hoped I didn't seem wimpy, and she said I'd been shooting for over an hour, and that wasn't wimpy. It was also nice to get instruction from a woman for a different perspective. I did an okay job of shooting, generally.

I have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to friends -- JPG and Holly are starting to remind me of the old jokes about Zeke Smith knowing everyone-- remember those? Anyway, I'm joining a gun club really soon and then I'll be able to go and shoot more regularly. Wednesday I'm supposed to meet a gunsmith to get my J-frame trigger tweaked. That'll be nice to have done. The sneaking suspicion is dawning on me that I have a new passion which will seriously put a dent in my shoe budget, but what a way to go, eh?

You'll just have to choose where to use your talents to save money: cobbler or gunsmith. Just don't shoot yourself in the foot.

Don't let Squeaky see this.

Why not let Squeaky see this? Hell, I'd like to take a .22 to the bugs in my abode!

Hmmm...shoes or ammo...shoes or ammo...I have the same problem. I alternate. :-)

Hey, you don't get to be our ages without know some peeps. Since we're fairly interesting folks, so are our friends.
I think you are well on your way to being an EXCELLENT shooter. You pay attention, you focus well, and you enjoy it.
It's fun going to the range with you.

When I doubt the paths I have taken, I can look around at my friends, and know I am amazingly successful at what really counts.

Good job, Miss Phlegmmy!

My brother has a MKII 22/45. I know exactly how it feels to shoot it until you're tired of it. I SO want one. Great practice and super-cheap ammo.

Nice!

g bro - I love you for that comment

turk turon - why whatever can you mean?

squeaky - shoes am the very plinth on which a fabulous shooty bitch plants herself, so say I.

breda - i LIKED it a lot!

holly - why thank you kindly for your hospitality and all your help. I'm going to work and work. I've gotta say I'm loving the stuffing out of shooting .22s

JR Shirley - you are a rich man, indeed.

buck - it had it coming!

hammer - thank ye kindly

speaker - Yeah, it was a total dream to shoot - loved it. And the economical ammo aspect can't be understated

Once you really get into the guns and the gun club folks, you'll forget all about shoes my dear.

I've been like a crack whore for guns since I was about 12. I started shooting at 8.

My collection really took off when I turned 21 so I could buy guns myself. I average a new (new to me) gun about every 2 months and have since I was about 30.

I won't tell you my age or how many guns I have but I'm old enough to have done 2 tours in Vietnam and my garage is my gun safe. I had the outside garage doors removed and filled with concrete and a bank vault door put where the door into the house is.

I'm still going strong. I wonder how many guns a fellow can collect before he croaks.

I'm the same way about books. I have 3 bedrooms and a den that is wall to wall, floor to ceiling in books.

If you can afford it, you don't have to give up one hobby for another. Some folks think I'm a little strange but I say fuck'em.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new sport as much as I do.

Joe

P.S. - While I have nothing against hunters that eat what they kill and are swift and merciful about their kill, I despise trophy hunters that just kill for the bloodsport and to hang an animals head on the wall. There are so many better shooting sports than hunting. Do yourself a favor and give them all a chance.

You go, Phlegmmy! Have you bought any fabulous shoes to shoot in? (because really, it's another occasion to outfit your feet for!)
