Christmas Tree Teaser
Here are some ornaments from my tree. I just love this little hedgehog, and I had to share with you the nekkid Santa with the strategically placed beard. I suspect he delivers his goodies on a hog. Love the rosy cheeks.
I was living in a loft about 18 years ago and a neighbor had the wackiest thing - it was an old Wrigley's rack from a WalMart or a dollar store or some such, and it became my official Christmas tree. Remember when those stores would have these racks with hanging 10-packs of Wrigley's chewing gum like Big Red and Doublemint and Juicy Fruit? Well, maybe it's a Southern thing, I dunno. Red and green spray paint sorta give the rack the spirit of the season. Now it's a little more unwieldy and cumbersome when it comes to storage, but I've usually had some good place to tuck it away and have it out of sight in off-season.
By the way, I loved the crap out of the flavor of Juicy Fruit gum. As soon as the sweetness ran out on one stick, I'd unpeel the wrapper from another, like chain smoking only with chewing gum. Now I hate chewing gum - it makes my jaws ache. Ew. Still like the memory of the flavor of juicy fruit, though - haven't had it in years, maybe decades? Wow. Time is flying. Anyway, do they even make Juicy Fruit anymore? If not, pity.

They don't seem to make gum in wrappers anymore; they are all in those bubble packs. What, I ask, can you possibly make out of a bubble pack once the gum is gone? Certainly not a bracelet or anything.
The nekid Santa sure is cute, but I adore the hedgehog, which always make me feel all Christmassy because we always seemed to get hedgehogs things from our Oma and Opa in Germany.
barbara - Not having chewed it recently, I confess I haven't so much as glaced at the gum as I waited through the checkout at the market, so I wouldn't even know. Oh, yeah, gum-wrapper prison art is so interesting - would be a pity to lose that!
Yup, I love the nekkid Santa. Funny how with your name it didn't occur to me how closely tied to the old country you are - good for you! Did you ever go there for Christmas?
"the flavor of Juicy Fruit gum" - Yip, did the same. My teeth are bad so I don't chew any more. Hedgehog thins is so cute - unlike the one that lived under our fig tree a couple of years ago. I'd forgotten about the gum wrapper art - we used to have chocolate bars wrapped in tin foil and then paper - and ciggies used to be wrapped in extra heavy but thin (make sense?) tin foil inside the boxes when Dad used to smoke - both were great jewelry material, too.
Say, I don't have a IPod - I wonder if I can listen to the link you put yesterday via something else.
(Sorry if this gets sent twice; we just switched to Beta and sometimes the account thing isn't straight forward.)
That hedgehog is just too cute.
Both ornament are cutie! And yes, they still make Juicy Fruit. It was never one of my favs. CLOVE was my fav. I was a weird kid. Cool, but weird. Holly
Love the ornaMENTS !!Oh yeah ...they still make Juicy Fruit!! Call my taste buds wierd but egg nog reminds me of Juicy Fruit and vice versa.......have you seen the eggnog creamer for your java( only for the holidays!!!mind you..) I loves me an eggnog latte(ok gingerbread too) from that large coffee chain (just in case you were thinking about a holiday treat nummy....)I'm just sayin.......is all and Teaberry was a great gum too..... back in the day!
Maybe Mr Claus kicked him out without his suit ') and he probably deserved it
Oddly I've only ever been to Germany in the summer, PF. I should try it some Christmas though.
Your jaws hurt after chain chewing? You probably forgot to stretch! Whenever you exercise (including your jaws) you have to stretch after or you will get aches and soreness, especially as you get older. Next time you chew gum, when you are done, open your mouth as wide as you can and hold it for 15 seconds. Then swing your jaw side to side a few times and open again for 15 seconds. I used to have the same problem!
meg - I don't know the finer points of hearing sound files on the internet-- I just hear that directly through my computer speakers - do you have speakers and a sound card on your machine? A smart guy like Ben ought to be able to hook you up with that!
turboslut - I know some people find hedgehogs a nuisance, but I think they are incredibly cute!
holly - I always loved the smell of clove cigarettes
schnoobie! *I just love saying that name* I've never heard of Tealberry - it sounds odd, though. I think an eggnog latte sounds amazing, though I've never tried one
kim - It wouldn't surprise me to hear that Santa was naughty occasionally. I'll bet he got lumps of coal and switches in his stocking, too.
barbara - I've only been to Germany in the winter. In fact, I prefer traveling to cooler places in the winter so I get to experience some actual winter, ya know? Then again, I guess you get enough cold weather on your own, living in Canada!
darkmind - that is so odd - I wouldn't in a million years thought there were warm-ups/cool-downs for jaw muscles, but I suppose it makes sense. That's wild.
Never liked Juicy Fruit - Doublemint was my chew. Until I discovered Skoal.
