How about some nice celebrity dish, for a change?

Remember Karen Allen, the actress who was in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Animal House? (I think she was in Starman, too, which I really liked.)

Well, she's a knitter. She's been hand-knitting all her life, but in 2002 she decided to study textile design at the FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) NYC and now she has a line of beautifully patterened cashmere knitwear and she has a knitting shop in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Check out her website to see some of her gorgeous textiles. Well done, Karen!

I saw something on the TV about that a few months ago. She looked good, too.

Oh boy. she does wonderful work. I wish I knew how to knit, but crocheting is my thing.

Really impressive!

She also plays guest roles from time to time, like the sadly disturbed daughter of Holocaust victims on Law & Order Elevator Inspector Unit. I have always liked her.

I visited the website. Lovely stuff.

That's beautiful. I liked Starman as well, especially the line where he says "Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you? You are at your very best when things are worst"

I tried knitting a sweater when I was a kid. I was sort of artistic so I thought it would be a snap. Wrong. I toiled and struggled and made little progress. The sweater ended up stitched together as a tube dress for Barbie.

I'm frankly amazed that can knit and crochet and do that sort of thing.

Great Stuff!!
She looks fabulous too!!!
I have always wanted to try a knitting machine.... Justine Bateman has (or used to ) have a line of handknit stuff that was awesome...I think you could find her stuff at the high end department stores.......Now I know I'm trying to do things backwards....I should have done the "Famous Actress" thing FIRST before attempting to make it in the Fiber World!!! who knew?

I loved her use of colours and thought that some of her hats looked very cool.

I love the blue sweater set and all the scarves.

Lucious, lucious.

Too bad any kind of wool makes my skin itch.

:(

Good for her! I find it so heartening when former Hollywoodies actually do something real with their lives rather than just appearing on reality shows and trying to relive their former fame.
