I went to a Halloween party Thursday night, and dessert was a Kitty Litter cake. Have you heard of this? It's actually crumbled up white/chocolate cakes & cookies topped with caramels and tootsie rolls kind of melty and molded to look turdly.

Yeah, it was revolting, but it was funny, too. And delicious.

I found the recipe below on this site:

CAT LITTER CAKE RECIPE !!
[*NOTE: THIS CAKE CONTAINS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT IS NOT EDIBLE!!*]
CAKE INGREDIENTS
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix

1 box of white cake mix

1 package white sandwich cookies

1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix

A few drops green food coloring

12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent
SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS"
1 NEW cat-litter box

1 NEW cat-litter box liner

1 NEW pooper scooper
Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.
When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.
Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.
Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box.
Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

I have seen those before and I think they're absolutely hysterical. I've never made one, though.

I like how they emphasize "new cat litter box and scooper" lol

Too funny!

Reminds me of the last baby shower I went to.
They had melted various candy bars and chocolates into premie diapers and numbered them, and you had to guess which candies were used.

It looked VERY realistic and kinda grossed me out.

Oh man, the photo made it look like a blood-letting party with trained leeches. You've got more adventure in your spirit than I do!

Loved the ones draped over the side ... soooo realistic!

Addenda - I had to show this one to Mark. He thought that the recipe should include (after the mention of NEW utensils) "Lock your cat up between prep and serving time!"
W-a-y good point there.

Now you know I don't care much for cats...so you know I would not even look at this, much less taste it!

That is too funny! And I have to admit it turns my stomach a little, so job well done there!

That is hilarious -- it sounds good but I don't know if I could get past the fact that I'm eating a fictitious turd.

You learn new things every day as you get older. Today is the first day in my near-half-century I'm going to say "Pass" to cake. Though if it were sliced and put on a colorful plate with a cute paper napkin, I probably won't notice.

LaP and I must be more adventurous than the rest of you Wankers!

The Sup at my last office job made one of these. The rest of the SoWkrs were a bunch of up tight women who went "EWWWW, that looks NASTY!" and they wouldn't even try it. SO The SUp and I ate huge portions and then I took the leftover cake home to my kids. They LOVED it and thought it was hilarious. They were both teens at the time, that may be why they were cool about it.
Anyway...I just thought it was funny and yummy.

Oh, puke! Those tootsie rolls look like nasty, vile, slimey, slithering, DISGUSTING slugs!

I love it.

I'd heard about this, and I'm glad you provided the visual. That's pretty realistic looking...
