Girly product post

After off-roading, Kels ran into Northpark to grab some of a limited edition run of an old favorite product from Lush. I sat in the car and waited for her, and what she brought back - Flower Tub Bubble Bar - smelled so enchanting I knew I'd have to get some for myself. Every year, Lush takes votes from their loyal customers for which out-of-production items should be brought back in a limited run, and Flower Tub was this year's popular demand item. The bubble bars are really neat because it's like a barely-dried lump of play-dough and you hold it under the running tap and it produces mountains of fragrant bubbles. I think this has a lot of juniper in it, too.

This reminds me a bit of one of the herbal baths from Kneipp, which is great stuff, by the way. I would buy the Kneipp stuff at the Cupboard when I was going to school in Denton. That reminds me-- I miss my Victorian bathtub.

Anyway, for anyone who would have run out to Northpark to pick up the Flower Tub bars - don't bother-- I bought the last 8 tonight. Maybe next year, eh?

Anyway, it was a great bath, and I slid down in the tub into bubbles up to my ears, the water a mossy green. Now I smell all nice and flowery. I was reading a book with a green cover The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett. I was actually thrilled to see that someone got what looks like a curry stain on a page in the book. I wondered how such a person could have relinquished this book to Half Price Books, but I'm glad they did.

Favorite passage I've read today:

The old man had a large white horse tethered to a withered tree in a snow-filled gully some way from the circles. It was sleek, glossy and the general effect of a superb battle charger was only very slightly spoiled by the hemorrhoid ring tied to the saddle.

What's not to like, laughing as I go?

I'm annoyed at Sephora. They (and every store these days, it seems) are so nosey and always want to enter your store i.d. info when you buy something so they can track sales, I suppose. Well, after Lush, I went to all the trouble to schlepp over to Sephora for my favorite lipsticks from Sue Deveritt and Lola. Turns out they have those brands on their website, but will no longer carry them in the store. It seems to me that if they've got all my personal information, including my frequent/repeat product purchases, they could bother to shoot out an email asking me to continue to buy these fabulous items on their site, and save me the annoyance of the two mile hike from parking lot to shop. I'm just saying. I mean, if they know what I had for breakfast and that I'm wearing my Thursday panties, well, they could share some information that helps me for a change, don't you think?

Yeah, me neither.

Golly, I smell great. You should smell me. I smell like a garden of earthly delights. I'm not exaggerating. I mean, if you like that sort of thing, you'd agree. :P

LOL!

"Garden of earthly delights"!

Sounds delish.

I have to avoid all fragrances, 'cause it just isn't right to inflict it on my clients (what if they're allergic, or their ex-wife used just that fragrance?)

I used to LOVE Cinnabar by Estee Lauder. LOVE. Oh, well.

I also still really, really love anything with a rose fragrance. I love roses, I don't care how clichee that is, either!

You are such a tease! Now, get back to stories about shooting intruders or silly-string. Or else invent an internet scent transmitter.

So you went to school in Denton, eh? When I was a freshman in junior high at NT Demonstration School I was a soda jerk in the NTSC Student Union snack bar. It was new then. It has been torn down and replaced since. Along with the elementary school my sister attended then on the corner of A Ave and Chestnut. That's long since been a parking garage. We lived a half block from that corner on Chestnut.

Now that is an image I am going to find it hard to shake! I had better go and have a cold shower :)

I never give the stores my personal info at the cashier. They all hate me now, but they don't need to know that stuff to take my cash and I sure don't need them losing my information to an identity thief.

I have one bath's worth of this totally jawsome kelp-y stuff that turns your bathwater the exact shade of lime Koolaid and smells like the ocean except without decaying sea critters.

I cleaned out my tub extra well in preparation for using it and...

...haven't had a chance to take a soak in over a month. :(

A shower'll get you clean, but it's so damn hard to hold the book where it won't get sprayed on.

christina - Next year, I'll buy dozens of these things and bequeath them on my favorite pipples. For now, though, I'm going to be greedy. Yeah, Cinnabar - though it never smelled right on me - is one I still love to smell on other people. Very spicy and exotic. I couldn't make it in your industry, then. I don't over-do perfume (I hope) but I really rilly like it.

g bro - funny - I thought this post would lose the guys at "girly post"

myron - Yeah, I remember reading fabulous stories of your youth in Denton AND Dallas. Great stuff. Your archives are some of the best, btw - everyone should check you out.

dba dude - I had no idea this post would have such an effect on the fellows... *note to self*

barbara - good on you. They are bloodsucking dragons. When Container store axes me for a phone number, I always give a fake one. Annoying.

tam - Kelp-y stuff is great. damn skippy on the reading in the tub - I've only ever dropped two or 3 books in the tub, and I think that's a pretty good ratio, considering what a habit I've made of it.

Further note to yourownself, Phlegmmy... Any woman (well, within reason) who says things like "I smell like a garden of earthly delights" is gaar-awn-frickin'-teed to swivel male heads. Mine included. ;-)

Wow, buck - 42 years on this planet and finally someone clues me in! I just thought I was quoting a shampoo commercial from the 70s. I think I'm beginning to understand. Thanks, fellers!!!

Too bad blogger hasn't set up a scratch and sniff function on this thing. Uh, well, maybe that wouldn't be too good. Imagine the smells coming from fatty friday?

Oh goodie! I'm glad they still had them left, you lucky diva!
Flowertub is the best DAMN scent I've smelled yet. And it lingers in the tub and on your skin and the water is such a lovely shade of green.
I'm in love with Flowertub (don't tell Dick, k?) and have given in to owning now I believe fourteen of them. I'm hoarding them. It's a disease.

PS - I believe I've convinced a small e-tailer (sells only online) to make products in a scent similar to the F-tub. I just need to send her a small sample and she is going to try and replicate it. Can you imagine??? F-tub smelling sugar scrubs and lotions and potions?

*SIGH* I'll let you know if it happens for sure. Like we need something else to get addicted to.

They'd probably invent nose filters or something...

fhb - there you go again, finding the silver lining.
Yuck.

kels - Yeah, that would be incredible. You've GOT to keep me posted. It's generous of you to part with a wee bit of Flower Tub for the benefit of mankind. WOOHOO! What's wrong with THIS addiction? I can't think of a thing.

christina - don't encourage him. I'm still grossing out! Then again, if you had inter-smells, then you could install a P.U. chip which would be a smell blocker.

I love Lush, too! Had to cut back for a bit as I'm dealing with delicate female membrane problems, but yes.... love their stuff!

I love anything of theirs with cassis in it like their blackberry bath bomb or the Sultana of Soap. I love shampooing with it! Love that stuff!

When I first read this post, I was in the midst of making plans for our upcoming wedding anniversary. I poked around the Lush website to see what they had to offer and came up with the idea for an after dinner bubble and massage (it has been awhile since we have bubbled together). So off to North Park I go.

Well yesterday was our anniversary, and Ma'am, thanks for introducing me to Lush. One "Sex Bomb" (of course) with half a "Bathos" bubble bar made for the perfect soak for two. We could not keep the jets on for very long for all the bubbles, but those were some of the richest and creamiest bubbles we have experienced. For the after bubble massage, I purchased the "Amazonian" massage bar. I was skeptical at first, but it really does melt by body heat and made for a very nice massaging lotion/oil.

Thanks for mentioning these products, you helped to inspire a wonderful anniversary evening for V and I.

maven - sympathies to your membranes, but happily, I've experienced no such ill effects. They DO have some glorious products.

jr - I am impressed, and well done, you! Yeah, that melts-in-your-hand stuff is great, and your skin feels wonderful for days afterward. I'm thrilled for you! I'll bet you'll be doing that again before you next anniversary. Oh, and they have a frequent buyer club, too, and you can join online and you'll get occasional coupons for savings and freebies.

Good stuff!
