Um, no offense if you're one of those people who really, rilly like Budweiser, but in my opinion, it should have been left where the original source deposited it.[see illustration]

Now the Belgian company which makes Stella Artois has reached terms to purchase Budweiser. Now maybe they'll re-think their process, or something.

SRSLY.

Phew, had me worried until I followed the link - thought that it referred to that fine product of the city of Budweis in the Czech Republic!

Too funny. I've often thought that was the real reason they had the Clydesdales.... It will be interesting to see how InBev changes the company. Anheuser Busch has always been such a fantastic corporate citizen in our community, I hope that won't change.

Just great. Another American brand being sold out to the Europeans. What the f*** is this country going to? To me, I Anheuser-Busch is just another sell-out. We're losing everything to the Europeans and Asians and soon, there'll be nothing left. They can't conquer America by force, but they can conquer by acquisition. I stopped buying Miller products when they got sold to some South African company and I can stop buying Anheuser-Busch products. From now on, if I want a beer, I'm drinking good old American Yeungling.

DBA Dude refers tangentally to a question that comes to mind for me: Now that Anheuser-Busch are going to be based in an EU country, will Budweiser Budvar of Czech fame (from where August Busch stole the concept of transparent, filtered pilsners in the 1870s) be able to successfully sue for status under the Budweiser name?

Budvar, Czechvar, Starobrno and Lev - and of course Pilsner Urquell are mo' betta!

No offense taken, Phlegmmy. I think Budweiser is to beer as the Yugo is to cars... functional, after a fashion, but why? Nearly ALL of us can afford better (read that as: REAL beer).

I'll second Dirtcrashr and Matt G: Budvar and Pilsner Urquell are some mighty fine beers!

Truely. My mom always said she couldn't tell one beer from another. They all came from the same horse anyway. Now that I've started to drink it more I've begun to discern a difference, and bud is not on my list of drinks. recently found something called Honey Lager by Michalob. Good stuff.

Samuel Adams is now the largest American owned brewery based, as most know, in arguably one of the greatest cities in this fine land, Boston USA.
