PRALINE REPORT:
Pupgirl is nicely on the mend by now. She's still at the vet's office and I'll be able to pick her up first thing on Saturday morning. Thursday morning about 2.5 hours after I'd dropped her off, the vet called me and said she had fared well in the surgery, was coming out from under the anaesthesia and was already her naturally silly self again. I hope she doesn't wiggle out of her stitches! Anyhoo, she's all fixed up and in fine fettle.

Chuy, on the other hand, has not fared so well during this separation. He's been desolate, tragic and utterly bereft of his joy since his sissy left Thursday morning. I had to be out of town all day, so my sister took him to the office and let him hang out with her. He looked out of the window and whined most of the day. Poor little lad. I shall keep him with me all day Friday and hopefully the time will pass quickly. Mebbe a nice long walk? Looking forward to their happy reunion.

Don't you hate when you catch yourself blurting something stupid and trite? You never do that?
I do it all the time. :P

I got pulled over Thursday morning for not stopping far enough behind a stop sign.
As I signed my ticket, I said "thank you officer. I'm not normally a sloppy driver." [I had come to a full stop, but my front bumper wasn't behind the stop sign.]

He said "uh hunh."

I said "I'm sorry. That's a cliche, isn't it? You hear that all the time?"
He nodded.
I said "well, I rarely get pulled over so I'm not rehearsed on non-cliche comments."

Someday, perhaps I'll learn to keep my mouth shut, but I'm not holding my breath.

CORRECTION:

Some comments on this post made me realize I need to add to this post. Now I feel like I jerk because I didn't splain the whole situation which transpired with the officer, who was actually very polite. I was digging through the myriad paper scraps in my glove compartment while he phoned in my information. He came back and was writing the ticket and I handed him the most recent proof of insurance (I have it, have never let it lapse in my adult life) which ended in September. He looked at the expired date and said he was going to cut me a break and just give me a ticket for no proof of insurance and I could go take care of that ticket for $20-ish with proof of my insurance. Oddly enough, if I'd had current proof of my insurance, I'm sure I would have paid a $100-ish to $200ish ticket on the stop sign violation, so he actually did me a great kindness by letting the stop sign thingy go, even if there was a question of degrees. Mebbe he had to meet a quota. Who knows? I think he must have thought I looked guilty. [who? little ole me?]

Yays! I'm glad Praline is doing so well. Chuy will perk up as soon as he sees his sissy!

I've learned over the years to keep my mouth shut as much as possible. I still cringe when I remember some of my most egregious foot-in-mouth moments.

I was hoping for this kind of conversation.

Stormtrooper: Let me see your identification.
Obi-Wan: [with a small wave of his hand] You don't need to see his identification.
Stormtrooper: We don't need to see his identification.
Obi-Wan: These aren't the droids you're looking for.
Stormtrooper: These aren't the droids we're looking for.
Obi-Wan: He can go about his business.
Stormtrooper: You can go about your business.
Obi-Wan: Move along.
Stormtrooper: Move along... move along

A cop seriously pulled you over and ticketed you for that? Doesn't the gestapo of your town have better things to do? Think of it, you got a ticket for ALMOST running a stop sign. That is as ridiculous as the time my wife got a warning ticket for doing 67 in a 65 mph zone.

Glad puppy is doing well, but why is she at the vet's for so long?

Poor little Chuy! It's nice to see how well those two have bonded, though. :)

I was wondering the same thing as Vinogirl... Whenever I had any of my pups fixed, male or female, I was always able to pick them up the same day before the vet's office closed.

The last time I got a ticket (speeding, going 68 in a 55 zone), about 16 years ago, I was so mortified that I didn't say anything except "OK" when the officer handed my license back and told me to "slow down." And I've been good ever since! Well, most of the time. Besides, these days, it saves gas $$$ to go the speed limit. :D

Nope. Nevah happen, here. {Big-Ass eye roll...}

It's good to hear Praline is doing well, and I'm sorta surprised Chuy took her absence as hard as he did. My Old Ladies (the dog-type bitchez) never reacted in that fashion when one of the troika was out of pocket. But maybe they really didn't like each other all that much... ;-)

Geez. I'd fight that ticket. At least get it reduced to a non-moving violation with no points attached to your license.

She will perk up fast, but it's never fun when one of the pack is gone. I know you both miss her.

I had Barkley neutered. He is from a line of Grand Field Champions, but he was large, and getting larger and stronger and he was a handful NOT horny, so I had it done.

I called the vet and asked how much it would cost for a male dog. She said . ."it depends on weight". To which I replied. "but they're just a few ounces!"

Christina - Chuy and I made a big day of it together, and 12 hours from now we'll collect the terroress. I'm getting better at keeping my mouth shut, but I'm still not good at it.

g bro - I wish that had been the convo!

hoosierboy- it's always something.

Vinogirl - my vet requires a 2 day stay for observation. perhaps it's to ensure the pup doesn't go wild and rip stitches, etc. I'll ask about that tomorrow. Chu-man-fu is such a sensitive creature that I'm worry he'll die of pining when he's left there for 2 days. :(

Miz Minka - it's wonderful they are so close. That was what I hoped for. Like I said, I have a goal of keeping my yap shut. Nice to have goals, I suppose.

Buck - Chuy was stressed out Thursday but had a grand day out with mummy on Friday. I know he misses her, but he'll spring back quickly in the morning when we pick her up. :)

Orangeneck - I added a clarification on what happened when he pulled me over. He did me a kindness, so I'm not complaining.

According to state law down there, a driver is not in violation if he or she pulls past the sign to stop short of the crossroad if there is no crosswalk or clearly marked stop line. Most municipalities' traffic laws closely parallel the state laws.

In your state, the section no. is 544.010. If you know the law as well or better than the law officers, that's good. I used to be one. It sounds like this guy might be a freshly-coined officer.
