While I'm preoccupied with other matters, I give you the following reason #945 why I love Jack Russell Terriers:

Is this your dog?

Ian - no - just a great illustration of JRT turbo mode that I found on you tube. Most JRTs will do this, though - spazzy. It's hilarious!

ben heller - they're the funniest dogs. We call it a kitty fit - you know how a cat will spaz out every so often and run around like a maniac. My doglet is getting so old that she doesn't do it so often as she did in her salad days. Her fits are characterized by the way her back arches like a little bucking bronco as she tucks in to blaze a trail. Delightful!

PF: Great video! My little pooch--not a JRT--gets what I call "a hair up her butt". Ears back, running position, and it's off to the races. Yes, she too runs like a maniac throughout the house and then out the dog door for a good dump.

My wife claims the dog takes after me, but that I'm not nearly as cute. Especially squeezing through the dog door.

My family had a wire-hair terrier for years and they're every bit as energetic as a Jack Russell. I always cry when I see an old "Thin Man" movie with Asta bouncing around. Very cute picture!!

My ex tried to adopt a Jack Russell. The experiment lasted about a month, because the pup immediately bonded with him, and tried to protect him from... ...his cats.

"Look, Dad, there's a demon under the chair! Don't worry, I'll save you!"
*Bark, Bark*
*Hiss. SWAT!*
*Yipe! Yipe! Yipe!*

Five minutes later...

"Look, Dad, there's a demon on the sofa! Don't worry, I'll save you!"

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Bless that little dog's big heart, but its protective instincts just racked it up too many trips to the vet.

Dogs On Speed!

I wish I had 1/10 of 1% of that energy...

nongirlfriend - yeah, they are super-spazzy critters, but so incredibly funny. Mine is a little lady and not as spazzy as most, but she does go into turbo mode when she gets excited, or after baths or when I whoop like a banshee to get her lathered up.

admiral - Aw, but I'll bet you're ADORABLE sqeezing through the doggie-door!!! I love any creature that exuberantly announces the advent of a number 2. "Gotta crap! Gotta crap! Look at me! Oh boy! Gotta crap! Wheee!" You gotta love dogs.

anonymous - yeah, I love that doggie spirit - so full of life and sweet innocence. Joy!

tam - awww, y'all cleaned up the splatter pattern from the spray of a shredded dog nose one too many times? My doglet in her younger years probably racked up (cumulatively) $2000 in eye-injury repair bills. Fortunately, they only happened about $400 at a time, and we had the joy of vengefully laughing at her in the Elizabethan lamp-shade collar, which salved our aching pocketbooks. Poor pup, I'm sure you did the right thing - he was never going to adjust to the cats. Your description was hilarious, dahling!

ranger tom - Yup, I marvel at that exuberant energy. The chick who filmed the airborne dog in the video said her dog was spazzing because he was so happy she came home. Silly, funny, adorable creature!
