shoppers in a Dubai mall were terrified when the wall tank holding back gazillions of gallons of water and [live! nude!] sharks cracked before their very eyes. I think they were silly to worry about that because I think most of them would have drowned in plenty of time before they got et by sharks.
******
In other news, someone remind me why they call them killer whales?

Pay attention to the video playing in the lobby of the Hollywood agent's office in "Thank You For Smoking" -- killer whales in action, one of many cool visual gags inserted into the film by the director.
Yeah, you could see the same thing on Discovery or PBS, but "Thank You For Smoking" is a lot more fun.
I was wondering that about the orca story too!!!!
Killer whales have been observed throwing seals in the air before they eat them, as though they are playing with their food. This begs the question: was the killer whale playing; playing with its food; or both.
...yeah, I know. It is morbid, but the whole idea of thinking you can control large dangerous animals eludes me. Most people will run from a pit bull and would never consider interaction if they weighed 18,000 lbs.
Just another chink in the Dubai landscape... They are out of $$ for building AND maintenance... That Orca (Killer whale) has killed at least two other people!
I think that was the same mall in one of my science magazines a few years back. They used the largest piece of acrylic ever made for the front of the aquarium.
My first thought was the scene in the (otherwise abysmal) Jaws III where the shark batters open the underwater walk-through. Not politically correct, but entertaining to imagine.
