Party season has arrived.

WOOHOO!

Thursday night I went to a soiree at this marvelous mid-century modern house. I thought I'd be a smarty britches and make my little silk evening bag so much lighter by leaving the Treo in my car, and I got inside, fell in love and opened my purse to find - alas! -- no camera phone. Wadn't no way in hayull I was gonna schlep all the way back down those stairs to street level in heels for a camera to sneak photos. Serves me right. Anyway, it was positively grand, and I met a lot of wonderful people. I wish I could show you an interior shot, but this will suffice.

Favorite thing anyone said to me all night: "I'm gay, but you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen."

I'll take that compliment.

Saturday night is an awards thingie I'm attending with my sister, and I'm sure I'll have some fabulous stories from that event, too. Now if only it would get cooler - cold weather finery is so much more fun to wear than sweaty summer stuff. I'd be ok if Dallas were perpetually blanketed in snow.

Have a great Friday. It's going to be a fabulous weekend!

What a lovely venue!
And take that comment about your eyes to the bank and live off the interest - what a beautiful compliment!

What color, or is that too creepy-stalkerish?

The house looks fantastic, but rather lost in the woods, or is that an illusion?

I love the balcony/deck!

Have fun at the shindig.

I won't rub it in about our already cooler weather, not much. But I'm already considering my cozy red flannels, burrowing into the wingback with a down throw and a good book.

lin - it was so beautiful, among the treetops with so many windows. It looked like the perfect place for a cup of coffee in the morning, etc. Lurved it. Yup. Made me feel nice, even though I've done absolutely nothing to earn the compliment

christina - You don't scare me, baby! They're mostly light blue with a ring of suede blue on the outer part of the iris. Sometimes if I wear green things, they look green. The house is NESTLED, darling, nestled in the woods. It's stunning. It has a huge private deck in back, too, and a massive circular drive. I'd also want at least a very small elevator from the garage level - all those steps! - or I'd need a lackey to schlep my groceries up.

lin - I envy pretty much everything about your whole setup out in the wilds of New Mexico! And cooler weather for longer? Lurve it. One of the great things about cooler weather is that it's such prime reading weather.

Cool house. Yep, I wish it would start coolin' down too. Soon. Next thing you know I'll be needin' a jacket to take dad to these Friday night football games.

I'd install a dumbwaiter for the groceries.
I've always wanted one, they're very cool and I've actually seen one in real life!

If that house is half as awesome inside as it looks outside, I'm there.

Yes, but will you show US a picture of those beautiful eyes? No!

Circa FLR... It's not very well insulated, it it?

fhb - that's the best - Fall. I love it!

anonymous - to know him is to love him

christina - dumbwaiters are cool. So are laundry chutes!

barbara - it was astonishingly beautiful

g bro - I'm cruel that way

meg - Well, I dunno - but we dont' have protracted bouts of bitter cold here, and with all those trees acting as natural air conditioners, as well as being partially built into a rock bluff, it's probably better heat/cool efficient than it might seem at a glance.
