Here's a subject line you don't see in email every day:
OUR BABY RHINO!

My girlfriend from South Africa sent me a picture (not this one) of the new arrival at the family manse. She said they haven't named it yet because they don't know if it's a boy or a girl.

From the email:

This picture was taken from quite far away, since the mommy is still "hiding/ protecting" the baby -- it will be a while before she brings him/ her out with the others.

This makes me wonder how close the other usually are. I'll have to ask next time we talk. But they are amazingly cute, no? I totally get it.

They'll have to name it "Pat" until they figure out what gender it is :)

One of my favorite aminals. He does look cute, but I wouldn't want to pick him up for a cuddle.

hammer - I'll suggest that!

tickersoid - Yeah, incredibly cute, but yeah, his momma would stomp you into oblivion, I think.

Very sweet looking, aren't they? Adorable until they grow up, much like children. ;)

Oh now I want one! I wonder if there would be a problem if I brought one home?

How adorable. Since it wouldn't make a good lap pet, I guess I'll keep looking for a Sheltie, though.
