I rememeber when I was a kid and Elsewhere had no leash laws. We would be driving through town and some pooch who was feeling his oats would charge out of his yard, barking for all he was worth as if to say, "Hey metal beastie, if I catch you I'm gonna eat you!"
My dad took great joy in stopping the car. The poor dog would get this look on his face that said, "Aw hell! I caught the damned thing! Now what do I do?"
More often than not, the hound would just huff once more, paw the ground with his hind legs and walk back to his yard confident that he had sufficiently itimidated the offending metal monster.
I will never forget, however, the chihuahua that circled the car still barking for all he was worth and peed on each tire before quitting the field of battle victorious.
