Some time around the time my family moved to Texas, the sky ride at the State Fair collapsed and squished some folks. Obviously, it was a terrible thing to happen. I DETEST heights, pretty much. Once in Belgium at Dinant, I willingly got into a gondola rather than climb the cliff wall, thus saving some valuable time for investigation of the trappist arts. Anyway, I never had the urge to voluntarily get on a sky ride. Well, they've got a new whizz-bang skyride at the State Fair of Texas sometime in the last few years, and this one doesn't look at all rickety or rusty. Wednesday at the fair, it was my birthday, and I've been through lots of scary things over the last 15 months, and I figured what the hay - if the skyride gits me, then at least I won't have to suffer the horrors of an Obama presidency. The pic with downtown in the distance is the only clear shot I got of downtown, as the gondolas were passing in rapid succession on the other side. Anyhoo, I survived, obviously. :P

Makes my stomach queasy just looking at the photos!

Great pics. I think the blurry quality adds to the effect of the heights. Well done!

We share a distaste for heights, Phlegmmy, and I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that before. Good on ya for doing what would be literally impossible for me... at this stage of the game, anyway. You Brave Soul, you! ;-)

I second Buck's opinion of the pics' blurriness. It's very cool, and I wish I could paint because I'd love to make a painting of the last picture. It really appeals to me for some reason. And you ARE very brave!
