I wish I lived in that era. I love big bands. I used to work at a place called the 57th Fighter Squadron in Atlanta a few years back; ok...more than a few. The theme of the restaurant was WWIIesque and I was the DJ during happy hour. I'd spin all the big bands of that time. The folks would dance, and when I say dance...we're talking people who were in their 60's and even 70's tearin' that dancefloor UP! Glen Miller does something to our elders. It's like a burst of energy when they hear it. I've never had such a good time.
I remember hearing a lot of good music on radio and juke boxes in the 50's. I now keep Sirius tuned to Standards so I can hear them all again. Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Louis Armstrong, Lena Horn, and on and on and on. I'd rather listen to the music than watch TV.
tony - yeah, that older music was grand, wasn't it? Sounds like a blast in that theme restaurant.
myron - Yeah, Sirius is one of the best things to happen to music delivery in a long while, I believe. Great to have commercial-free radio that plays exactly what you crave.

mushy - You know there were!
I've never heard such a happy song about domestic abuse. I love it. :-)
zelda - I suppose it takes a lot of chutzpah to grin and bear it like that.
Yes it does. I actually think it would take less chutzpa to shoot the bastard in the face.
zelda - For real. Times have certainly changed, though, haven't they?
