Today is the 280th birthday of Franz Josef Haydn

I first heard this piece over 60 years ago in New York's Central Park. The solo player had a withered arm and played at concert level with his left hand only. If memory serves me right the horn he played had not been built for left hand play yet he still managed to be able to play with the Philharmonic.
Thanks for the chance to hear great music and remember good times past.

Robb Cunningham over at Revolver Liberation blog just wrote an entry on Maurice Andre, Friday. That is a "piccolet" trumpet. Funny how the world works, innit?
