POGONIP

A friend told me about a meteorological phenomenon they have up in the [Texas] Panhandle called pogonip. A dense cold fog will suddenly coalesce around solid objects, encrusting them in ice. It sounded like poetry, the way he descirbed it.

OOOOOHHH. PRETTY!

Which panhandle are you talking about there? The Swedish panhandle? That's incredible - to see that in person must be phenomenal...

miz minka - it does look enchanted, doesn't it?

scotaku - Texas panhandle - sorry! Have inserted that in the text, now. Yeah, from his descrition, it sounds like watching magic or something.

Hey we had that in Santa Cruz too, pogonip! But the climate is not cold enough to freeze, so it's just really-really dense ground-fog in which cars and joggers crash head-on.

That is incredible! We often have hoar-frost up here, but it doesn't get anywhere near that thick. That's magnificent.
