I'm not superstitious or easily creeped out, but...

Driving in a rural area Saturday night, I noticed many of the graves in a backwoods cemetery were festooned with those solar-powered lights. You know the ones that give of a pale, anemic glow? Well, I thought the scattershot illuminated gravestones looked kind of eerie, actually. I wonder what people are thinking these days?

Weird? I think so.
Icky? Definitely.

What's next? Putting "the clapper" on them?

I've seen them. To me, these are like the crosses on the side of the highway. While there's an honor in remembering the passing of a loved one, the constant reminder seems to have a deeper meaning, which borders on the macbre.

Maybe it's so the deceased can find their way back home after a night out haunting their heirs.

That's so the vicious little twerps who drive pickups and 4 wheelers to graveyards and take potshots at the tombstones can sneak around and do it at night without hurting themselves.
You have no idea how many old graveyards in Texas have been desecrated by these thugs.
For what reason? Because it's "fun." All goes to the disrespect Americans of all ages are displaying these days.

I guess I'll leave instructions in my will to equip my grave with a pebble-bed reactor connected to a security zone/pain field generator. Just a little something for the vandals.

Just like the house is now.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Hey, there were shots. I returned fire in self-defense, officer. It's a shame these poor children, out innocently having fun by shooting up the countryside, were injured. Gosh, I hope they're alright...

The modern version of will o' the wisps? Because the kind from the Auld Land would violate some EPA rule, or maybe OSHA?

Don't worry. The lights WILL burn out, and most of the rest of us are opting for cremation.
eerie solved :)

Pale, anemic glow in a graveyard? That ain't a solar-powered light; that there is the aura of the undead.

Don't you watch Bruce Campbell movies?

I had to comment on this as I live opposite the church in our village. For some strange reason they light up the graveyard with a green light a night time. It really does look rather eerie and I often wonder why they do it. Very Odd indeed and it really gives me the creeps.

(I decided to come back to blogging as I missed it, so I shall try to stick around this time)
