The first couple days at the job have been nice, actually. In truth, I have seen a couple shell-shocked looking folk, but that may just be personal problems. The other several hundred folk seem ecstatic to be there.
My home internet connection may be up and running Saturday. Fingers crossed. I'm loving the rustic setting, and I'll just have to be patient that things don't run on the get-it-done-yesterday schedule of Dallas utilities. That's a good thing, actually.
The drive in to work is amazingly un-stressful. The photo I posted yesterday was at what would have been some of the very worst time of Dallas traffic of a morning, and yet you'd have to go near another car out here.
The pups go hog-wild tearing around the big back yard. I'll try and post some pics soon.

Good to hear you on the gun nuts show last night. Katie and I are following the progress up there.
I think the most impressive thing I experienced when I moved away from the city was the stars. Millions of points of light scattered over a black background.
I hope you don't have a lot of light pollution and can enjoy the night, even if it means you have to scold the dogs for barking at the moon.
I'm really glad you're settling in.
I grew up in Philadlephia and I've been out of a big city for over 10 years. Living in smaller towns do have they're detractions, but I'll never, ever move back to a big city ever again!
Good luck with it!
It sounds like you've found a lovely place, and hopefully you'll continue to enjoy it as you get more and more settled.
Our own move is a little over a month away and we'll be putting down a deposit on our home of choice the middle of this month. It's a modern log home, 3 bedrooms with a 2 car garage, on the side of a mountain. 2 acres are our "yard" and 74 acres is the total size of the property, which we will have use of as long as "the dogs don't chase the deer."
I am hoping everything goes smoothly.
