Not gonna need that tolltag very often anymore, are ya? :-) I have to say, I'm jealous. I'd move out there in a heartbeat, if only there were a way for me to get decent rural broadband Internet access.
Next thing to happen: You'll find yourself stopping to save a turtle from traffic.
The only thing I'll warn you about is owls. There's nothing wise about owls. I'd venture to say they are only marginally more intelligent than a flying rock, but that might be giving them too much credit. Watch for them in twilight conditions, when they have a tendency to fly windshield high. Hitting one is almost as bad as hitting a Muscovy duck.(Yes, I do have the t-shirt.)
Yes, we do stop for funerals-and have a police escort. We also have fund-raisers with lotteries, spaghetti suppers, and auctions when someone is in trouble. Broadband is accessible if you want to pay the startup cost of $600. Buzzards are a lot worse than owls. So are deer. Turtles are fair game, depending upon the nature of the driver. Me, I stop and put the critter on the side of the road, where, once I restart my engine, critter immediately goes into reverse and crawls back onto the highway.
I ran into the broadband problem, which was way more than I cared to pay. I finally went to an air card, which uses cell phone towers and frequencies.
I think I'd rather hit a deer than a hog. We developed a big problem with feral hogs and alligators after Hurricane Ike. I've seen the leftovers from a few collisions on my way to work. Usually, there's a few hundred pounds of scattered meat and a bumper to mark the spot.

Don't you love it? I envy your newfound serenity.

I could live with that kind of a commute. :) Hope the new job is working out better than you expected, too.

I wish I had that problem. Here, it's going onto the 6th day of rain (tomorrow). Ugh!!!
I'll bet folks there even pull over and stop for a funeral procession.
Have fun with that. :-)
Aw shaddap... :-)
Reminds me of the roads in the Highlands - hope that the job is working out better than expected.
Lucky you! Someday I won't have to deal with fucked-up, crazy traffic...I can hardly wait!
It IS nice, innit? ;-)
