It's a mystery. Watching a bunch of cars drive in a big circle for hours. Well, crap. What's smart about driving 500 miles and ending up where you started?
leazwell - oh, NO DOUBT it's very entertaining, and it seems like the Nascar crowd are a friendly, welcoming bunch of people, so I can see the appeal of joining the clan. However, I'd just hang out in the parking lot next to the barbecue and margarita machine, thank you very much.
dick - indeed, not my idea of a good time, but it sure is fun to razz them, isn't it? They are kind of cute in their child-like zeal for this odd sport.
barbara - Yeah, I guess it is pretty exciting at the end - everyone all keyed up after hours of tension. They're probably all standing up at that point from the numb butts alone!
o.g. - *L* Yeah, that was brilliant! I'm glad Nascar exists - it brings a lot of joy to a lot of people. I'm just glad I'm not duct-taped to a chair and forced to watch it.
I agree 100% with Leazwell...every year in Toronto, we attend Monster Jam so we can dress up in Snap-On gear and take pictures of the skids in the audience! It's our Halloween!
dave - Monster Jam sounds like a hoot! I love white-trash gatherings, and actually, there are an awful lot of very nice and very friendly people there, so it's half decadent spectacle/half good hang-out time.

And so very much the truth.
Amen! I'd likely just show up for the last lap or two.
NASCAR suuuuuuuuuucks!
(What an intelligent comment, huh?)
