It's a good, entertaining movie, but it's too Hollywood for my taste. I think Kurt Russell nailed the look of Wyatt Earp, however.
For historical accuracy, though, I much prefer Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp. For the coolest scene in that movie, skip forward to the scene in Fort Griffin where Wyatt meets Doc Holliday (Dennis Quaid) for the first time: Doc reaches across the table for a whiskey bottle, accidentally knocking it over, and Wyatt catches it with cat-like reflexes; Doc's eyes narrow as he realizes that Wyatt is pretty damned fast, then his eyes crinkle and he smiles slightly as he decides its not a provocation. Great, great scene.
I'm with both these cats! The film Wyatt Earp can be a bit long and plodding, but the character studies excel! And, Tombstone! I hope you bought the DvD set with the street map of the gunfight scene? And Dana Delaney - kill me now... ps - the fact it's Billy-Bob he's slapping makes it even better!
As previously stated, both movies have their good points. Tombstone is much more entertaining, and in my opinion, one of the most quotable Western' there is...right up there with 'Unforgiven' and 'The Outlaw Josie Wales' in terms of great lines...

I still maintain that Kilmer should have won an Oscar for best supporting playing Doc Holliday.
